In Memoriam

This page is dedicated in honour of the memory of our departed brother of the brush, Pete 'the boat'.

Peter Furnival sadly passed away on the 17 September 2023, after a brief but brutal battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Pete was a true gentleman, in every regard. Kind, honest, gentle of soul and strong in spirit. He always wore a smile, regardless of his personal circumstance, offering strong words of support and encouragement, whatever your endeavour.

Pete's passion was for sailing and the sea, enjoying the hands on experience in younger life, and bringing it into play with his modelling as he matured in years.

Pete's models are the perfect metaphor for his life: nothing was built straight from the box. It was either converted or built from scratch, pouring his passion, enthusiasm and sense of adventure into every build. Ever willing to help by sharing his knowledge and experience.

Not only did Pete built models, but also painted on canvas; either with brush or airbrush, producing some wonderful works of art. This hobby came from his professional career. He owned his own ceramic transfer company, which he took to an international level, entering into partnership with a German company. Sadly his firm went into decline along with the whole of the ceramic industry in Stoke on Trent.

A staff member said "He was a wonderful man to work for, offering bonuses and meals out, leading by example and being appreciative of his employees".

This gallery has been put together, not only to honour Pete's memory but to hopefully give inspiration to others; sharing his passion, so his memory will live on through their art too.

To me Pete was a well respected, true friend, companion and house mate, who is greatly missed.

Rest in peace, brother.
